Partners in East Africa
Marion Fass traveled to Tanzania and Kenya
in October to visit and work with professors at Sokoine University of
Agriculture, Egerton University, Maseno University, Kenyatta
University and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology
who are developing core common courses on HIV/AIDS. Dr. Fass lectured
on "The Impact of HIV/AIDS on Teaching and Learning", met with
administrators, students, and lecturers, and facilitated curriculum planning
workshops at each university. She recently created an excellent web
site documenting her work in Kenya.
This project is a collaboration between African Women in Science and Engineering
(AWSE) and the SENCER (Science Education for New Civic Engagements and
Responsibilities) project of the Association of American Colleges and
Universities. Faculty from the above universities had
attended a SENCER workshop in California in August 2002 to begin course
development.
