Presentation: Critical Pedagogy in the Field Study Component of the Border Studies Program, Saturday, 1:30-3:00

Biographical Information: Joanna Swanger received her M.A. in Latin American Studies from the Institute of Latin American Studies at the University of Texas at Austin and her Ph.D. in Latin American History from the University of Texas at Austin. Her dissertation treated campesino movements in 20th century Cuba. Issues of social justice are dear to her heart, and she remains very committed to her alma mater of Earlham College, where she received her B.A. in Peace and Global Studies in 1990. She now works for Earlham College as the Resident Director of the Border Studies Program, an off-campus study program she has recently taken to describing lovingly as "globalization boot camp."
