Database of Global Partners Language Faculty

This group's focus was on the use of technology to facilitate language learning in the context of study abroad. A particular interest was to explore ways to support the study of less commonly taught languages such as those associated with the Global Partners centers: Czech, Russian, Swahili, and Turkish.

Members of the task force met at the The Center for Educational Technology at Middlebury College (June 26-30, 2000) for an initial planning session. During this meeting the task force:

• developed a mission statement
• reviewed various resources and technologies for language instruction
• developed recommendations and future plans

To encourage collaborative efforts across Global Partners institutions, the task force created a database of language faculty on all 42 campuses.
