The Global
Partners Language and Technology Task Force is pleased to announce the
availability of scholarships for language study in the summer of 2004.
These merit-based scholarships are for study of any of the languages of
the Global Partners Centers--Czech, Russian, Swahili, or Turkish. We are
lending somewhat more support to Czech because we are privileged to have
a Czech professor from our Global Partners Center visiting Beloit for
the summer.
For Czech: Scholarships in an amount up to $2500 are available
for study at the Beloit College Center for Language Study. Applicants
must be full-time students or faculty members at any of the 42 Global
Partners institutions. Individual awards will range from a minimum of
$1000 to a maximum of $2500, and the total number of awards will depend
on the pool of applications received. Total award money available is $5000.
Interested students should complete an application and write an essay
explaining the value of such language study to their academic and future
professional lives. Interested faculty members should complete an application
and explain how such language study will enhance their promotion of international
education on their campus. Applications must be received by April 23,
2004 for full consideration. For more information on applications and
deadlines contact: Patricia Zody, Director Center for Language Studies,
Beloit College; phone: 1.608.363-2277; email: cls@beloit.edu.

be either overseas or U.S. based. Individual awards will range from a
