Summer 2000 Participants

Faculty Development Seminar in Turkey

June 10-21, 2001

The tri-consortial Global Partners program (comprised of Associated Colleges of the South, Associated Colleges of the Midwest and the Great Lake Colleges Association) plans to send 9 faculty members (3 from each consortium) to the The Council on International Educational Exchange's travel seminar "Economics, Polity, and Religion in Turkey," which will take place June 10-21, 2001. The seminar fee and expenses will be covered for successful applicants.

Selection Criteria

• Interest in Turkey and its many dimensions.
• Interest in the Global Partners tri-consortial cooperative programs being developed in Turkey.
• Willingness to assist with the Global Partners programs involving Turkey in the future. (For example, promoting the study abroad program for students on your campus, leading or helping to develop a faculty seminar.)
• Relevant (but limited) expertise or experience with Turkey, thereby enhancing the importance and value of this summer seminar.
• Academic qualifications pertinent to teaching or leading programs in or related to Turkey, but not an expert in the area.

Note: A special effort will be made to attract faculty from a broad range of academic disciplines.
